The Chief of Staff of the Air Force

General Greg Oliver

Der derzeitige Chief of Staff of the Air Force ist General Greg Oliver. Er bekleidet dieses Amt seit August 2008. General Oliver ist somit ein Mitglied der Joint Chiefs of Staff. 

Greg Oliver wurde 1955 geboren.  Er schloss 1974 die US Air Force Academy in Greenville, Astoria State ab.

Oliver ist ausgebildeter Pilot und hat mehr als 4000 Flugstunden hinter sich. Er war lange Zeit Kampfflieger und danach Flugprüfer. Vor seiner Nominierung zum Chief of Staff of the Air Force leitete er das US Unified Command "Special Operations".

Die United States Air Force ist eine von vier Teilstreitkräften der US Armed Forces. Sie wird durch den Chief of Staff of the Air Force geleitet, der aufgrund dieser Funktion Mitglied der Joint Chiefs of Staff ist.

Die wichtigsten Air Force-Einrichtungen sind die Hauptquartiere der Flugstützpunkte, welche den Unified Commands zugeordnet sind:

- West Air Command im West Astor Commando

- East Air Command im East Astor Commando

- Southern Air Command im South Astor Commando

- Northern Air Command im North Astor Commando

Die US Air Force leistet ihre Grundausbildung auf dem Gelände des East Astor Command in Astoria City ab.
